ACS Project SEED

The Hosseini Lab participates in Project SEED, a program developed by the American Chemical Society which offers high school students the opportunity to gain hands-on summer research experience. The Hosseini Lab joined the program in the summer of 2024 and has enjoyed assisting in the growth and development of the young researchers we’ve had the pleasure of working with since.

ELECTRO

The Hosseini and Simoska Labs collaborated to develop the program known as Educating Learners in Electrochemistry and Chemical Transformations for Renewable and Organic Synthesis (ELECTRO). ELECTRO is a hands-on outreach program that introduces students at Dreher High School to electrochemistry by linking. This program employs simple, everyday materials typically found in the home to demonstrate fundamental scientific concepts with real world applications in renewable energy, clean water, and sustainable synthesis.

Undergraduate Research Initiative (URI)

The Hosseini and Simoska Labs have pioneered the Undergraduate Research Initiative at USC, a yearlong program designed to train first-year undergraduate students in crucial laboratory techniques and behaviors. Through URI, students are also connected with labs within the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry to provide an opportunity to dive into undergraduate research. URI serves to prepare younger students both technically and professionally to guide them in their research endeavors.
