  • 11/05/25 – Congratulations to Alex for passing his third-year candidacy exam.
  • 10/12/25 – Alex, Chris, and Skylar represented the Hosseini Lab at the 248th Meeting of the Electrochemical Society in Chicago, IL. Alex delivered a poster detailing his recent research updates and Skylar and Chris both presented a talk in the Organic and Biological Electrochemistry Symposium.
  • 09/16/25 – The Hosseini Lab welcomes three new graduate students, Jackson Hardister, Chris LeBarron, and Skylar Stewart. Chris and Skylar originally joined the lab as undergraduates and will continue their respective research into the mechanistic insights of nickel-based electrocatalysts and electrolysis at deeply reductive conditions. Meanwhile, Jackson will develop nanoscale ion-selective electrodes.
  • 09/09/25 – Congratulations to Skylar on receiving the ECS Travel Grant from the Organic and Biological Electrochemistry Division in preparation for her presentation in October.
  • 09/05/25 – Amir delivered his third-year research seminar at the University of South Carolina.
  • 09/01/25 – The Hosseini Lab officialy welcomes five new undergraduate students! Three of these students, Mustafa Alameri, Finleigh Callahan, and Meredith Stewart, originally shadowed our lab last semester as URI students but have returned as full undergraduate members. All three are sophomores with Mustafa and Meredith studying biochemistry and Finleigh studying chemistry. Our other two new members are Natalia Redshaw and Liesl Walter, sophomores studying biology and biochemistry, respectively. All five are expected to graduate May 2028. We’re so excited to welcome everyone to the team.
  • 08/18/25 – Amir delivered a presentation at the biannual ACS conference in Washington, DC.
  • 05/10/25 – Congratulations to our undergraduates Chris LeBarron and Skylar Stewart on successfully defending their Honors Senior Theses and graduating! We are so excited to follow the science that they will investigate as they both pursue graduate studies at the University of South Carolina.
  • 04/28/25 – Congratulations to our undergraduate Abby Koczaja on earning the Magellan Mini-Grant and Honors Research Grant. We are so excited to see the fascinating research that these will enable her to explore!
  • 04/25/2025 – Congratulations to our senior undergraduates Chris LeBarron and Skylar Stewart on their successful poster presentations at DiscoverUSC. Chris earned second place within his competition category!
  • 04/17/2025 – Congratulations to our undergraduates Abby and Chris on their awards at USC’s annual Awards Day. Abby was presented with the Victor Laurie Junior Year Scholarship and Chris received the Outstanding Senior and President’s Awards.
  • 03/01/2025 – Congratulations to Skylar on receiving the Best Poster Award at the ACS Carolina-Piedmont Conference hosted by the Younger Chemist and Women Chemists Committees.

  • 11/01/24 – Welcome to Pavithra, the Hosseini Lab’s newest graduate student. Pavithra will work on the electrosynthesis of small organic compounds.
  • 10/28/24 – Alex delivered a successful seminar on his single entity studies of silver nanoparticles using scanning electrochemical cell microscopy to the Analytical Chemistry division.
  • 10/24/24 – Amir delivered a presentation for the Nanochemistry Symposium at the annual SERMACS conference in Atlanta, GA.
  • 10/02/24 – The Hosseini Lab published a review on modified working electrodes for organic electrosynthesis in ACS Organic & Inorganic Au.
  • 09/01/24 – The Hosseini Lab welcomes two new undergraduate students, Abby Koczaja and Isabella Newmoyer. Abby is a student in the South Carolina Honors College majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, expecting to graduate in May 2027. Isabella is a student in the South Carolina Honors College majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, expecting to graduate in May 2028.
  • 08/16/24 – The Hosseini and Simoska Labs came together to celebrate the end of their first and second years, respectively, as we look forward to another year of exciting development and study.
  • 07/26/24 – Congratulations to Fatima on winning the Best Poster Award for her presentation on developing stable reference electrodes for electrochemical studies in non-aqueous solvents at the USC ACS Project SEED Poster Competition. We look forward to her future exploits now that her time with the Hosseini Lab has come to an end.

  • 11/01/23 – Hosseini Lab welcomes Skylar Stewart. Skylar is an undergrad in the Honors College at USC majoring in Chemistry with a minor in Forensic Sciences, expecting to graduate in May 2025.
  • 10/15/2023 – Alex Reidell joined the lab as a graduate student. Alex is interested in studying the correlation between microenvironment and heterogeneous electrocatalytic activity for C-N bond formation.
  • 10/01/2023 – Hosseini Lab welcomes Chris LeBarron. Chris is an undergrad in the Honors College at USC majoring in Environmental Science and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, expecting to graduate in May 2025.
  • 09/01/2023 – Kristen Pazder joined the group as the first graduate student in the Hosseini group. Kristen will work on the electrochemistry of the environmental pollutants.
